The “Island of Hell”-this is what competitors call this island. The reason is the Volcano El Teide. Because of the island's sub-tropical climate, El Teide is open all year long.
Because of the climate, it is one of the very few places in Europe where you can ride climbs that competes with the great Alpine ascents during the winter.
The ride starts from La Camella then crossing Granadilla all the way up to Boca Tauce. You ride between the Pine forest on the way up and see the volcanic soil in different colours, black, red, orange and the contrast of the green Pine trees gives you an extra pump for the ride. You will pass by the small city of Villaflor which is built on a height of 1500 and is the last inhabited area you will see on your way up. There is still 15 km to go from Villaflor. The landscape changes, no more pine trees and you feel that you have arrived on the moon. The third-largest volcano on Planet Earth. It is a breathe taking experience and because you earn it, you will appreciate it even more.
